Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant - Pennsylvania

Description: 

PCCD administers funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), which replaces the former (Byrne) Drug Control and System Improvement and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant programs. Under JAG, 40% of the funds allocated to Pennsylvania are directly federally awarded to qualifying counties/municipalities with the remainder to be administered and subgranted by PCCD.

Maximum grant amount:
Up to $250,000 (with 10% match) for 24 month projects

Purpose:
Grants funds are available for new initiatives and the expansion of an existing project. The expansion of an existing program should serve a new target population not previously served or the expansion of an existing program in order to increase the capacity to serve more clients.

PCCD JAG grant program objectives:

Objective 1: Empowering Communities Through Collaboration
Objective 2: Protecting and Supporting Crime Victims
Objective 3: Enhancing Law Enforcement
Objective 4: Justice Reinvestment
Objective 5: Breaking the Cycles of Mental Illness, Substance Abuse and Crime
Objective 6: Evidenced-Based Programming, Practices and Innovation
Objective 7: Innovation in Technology and Information Sharing
Objective 8: Justice Training and Technical Assistance

In addition to the objectives noted above, there are important characteristics that PCCD
will be looking for as it reviews and scores concept papers submitted under this funding
announcement. These JAG funding characteristics include:

v Innovative approaches to solve current and future problems;
v Initiatives developed through collaborative planning efforts;
v Initiatives that pilot solutions to system-wide problems;
v Initiatives that create efficiencies and/or deliver services more effectively;
v Initiatives that are cost effective, sustainable and replicable;
v Initiatives that are based on research or promising practices;
v Public/private/philanthropic partnerships; and
v Assessments and evaluations which will assist PCCD in making more informed policy
and funding decisions.

Applicants must first register through Egrants and CCR before applying.
