Description: The goal of the ARRA/ Law Enforcement Technologies and Equipment program is to assist eligible local municipalities in the implementation or augmentation of law enforcement technologies and/or to purchase appropriate equipment to increase public safety. Funding Available: A total of approximately $1,827,262 in federal funds is being announced to support this initiative and does not require match. PCCD expects to fund between 10 and 150 grants. These grants are for a one-year period. Applications requesting more than the specified amount will be administratively rejected. Program Activities and Expenses: Awards must be used for program-related equipment and supplies to support specific local law enforcement projects that will result in measureable results. A minimum of $1 million in funding will be allocated towards projects in Category 1. 1. Law enforcement equipment and technologies: car radios, portable radios, light bars for patrol cars, police patrol and tactical bicycles, speed enforcement equipment, DUI enforcement equipment, tactical equipment, computer hardware, mobile computing devices, and computer software. - Budget amounts for this category may not exceed $10,000 per agency. 2. Innovative Collaborative and/or Regional Policing Efforts: Projects involving multiple law enforcement agencies working together to enhance public safety. Projects can include bu are not limited to: specialized training, crime analysis programs, COMSTAT, gang violence reduction programs, gun violence reduction programs, computer crime interdiction programs, and community policing programs.
